One of the top recreational areas in Arizona and the centerpiece of the Tempe community, Tempe Beach Park plays host to the Athleta Esprit de She Tempe Triathlon. Tucked between downtown and the shores of Tempe Town Lake, you’ll feel the vitality of the valley as you race to beat the desert heat.

Athleta Esprit de She Triathlons are sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT). All participants, including individual relay team members, must be a USAT member or purchase a single-event permit for $12. To learn more about USAT rules and regulations, visit them online at USATriathlon.org.

If you are a Life Time member registering as part of a relay team, you must register for your entire team in order to receive the member rate.

Please note: there are no refunds, transfers or exchanges of registration for any reason. If you wish to switch to a different distance, please contact Athlete Services. There will be a $15.00 processing fee. Requests for changes must be received at least two weeks prior to race day.

Course Description

The Athleta Esprit de She Tempe Triathlon starts and finishes at Tempe Beach Park. The swim takes place in Tempe Town Lake, which is a man-made reservoir with calm waters. The bike course will be looped, mostly flat and super fast around the city of Tempe. The run course will loop around Tempe Town Lake, with beautiful views of Tempe and the lake.

Indoor Triathlons – Various dates
Before race day hits, test yourself indoors and join the nation's largest Indoor Tri series! A pioneer of the indoor concept, Life Time has produced more than 400 Indoor Tris, making us the largest and most experienced team in the country. Our model is designed to introduce the sport of triathlon to newcomers and provide a challenging training tool for veteran triathletes. Join the IN movement today!

Packet pickup – 2015 TBD
2 p.m.– 7 p.m. Packet pickup and mandatory bike check in at Tempe Beach Park (80 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281). Packet pickup will not be available on race day.
3 p.m. Mandatory course talk (option 1)
6 p.m. Mandatory course talk (option 2)

Please be prepared to show your photo ID and USAT license (Annual membership only) in order to pick up your race materials. Each participant must be present to pick up their individual packet. Friends and/or family members will not be allowed to pick up your packet for you.

*Each member of a relay team must be present to pick up their portion of the packet.

Parking & Directions

Tempe Beach Park is located at 80 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. Limited parking is available in the U.S. Airways ramp, free of charge. Once the ramp is full, you will need to park on city streets or at other parking lots near Rio Salado and Mill Avenue.


All athletes will receive their commemorative finisher’s medal immediately after crossing the finish line.  

Awards will be given within the following categories: 

  • Top three overall winners in the duathlon, super sprint triathlon and sprint triathon
  • Top three winners in the following age groups for the duathlon, super sprint triathlon and sprint triathlon: Junior 12–13, Junior 14–15, Junior 16–17, 18–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70+ 
  • Top three overall winners in the Elite/Pro division of the sprint triathlon
  • Para Athlete
  • Top three overall relay teams in the duathlon, super sprint triathlon and sprint triathlon
    •  Each individual within a relay will receive an award
